Meeting and podcast on the fight against Detention Centres in Europe
The system of borders, expulsions and detention of undocumented migrants is not simply a matter for individual states but is increasingly regulated at European level. The rise of Frontex, the financing of charter flights and new administrative detention centres (in France CRA) with European funds and the improvement of biometric registration tools for undocumented persons are clear signs of this increasing Europeanisation.
On 2 October 2021, the assembly against CRAs (detention centers) in Ile-de-France organised a public meeting with comrades mobilising against detention centres in Belgium, Germany and Italy. Other French anti-CRA collectives were also present to describe the situation in the different countries and to tell about the struggles that are developing inside and outside the detention centres.
