Geneve – Support event against border repression

Some places end up being those of departure or arrival, while others are those of passage. The mountain path between Oulx (IT) and Briançon (FR) is one of them.
Unfortunately, many people are seriously injured or die there because they try to avoid those who mechanically guard a territory and the privileges it contains. In the face of repression, so that life and freedom can be a possible horizon for all, comrades from Italy and from our region are organising an event to raise funds in support of this struggle. It will take place on Saturday 12 March from 12h.

Yesterday as today, here or elsewhere, certain life situations force or incite humans to move, to change places, to circulate on this planet which is theirs. As history has progressed, what was the main way of life has gradually been replaced by the movement of sedentary life, the appropriation of territories and then the creation of states. Accompanied subsequently by slavery, colonialist and then (neo-)imperialist policies, this dynamic extended and increasingly encroached on the Western way of life and its consequences.

Thus, some places are those of departure or arrival, while others are those of passage. The latter are often a source of tension. Chevrens was discreetly a source of tension during the Second World War; the mountain path between Oulx (IT) and Briançon (FR) is now.
Unfortunately, many people are seriously injured or die there as they seek to avoid those who mechanically guard a territory and the privileges it contains.

Faced with these situations, some people try to fight, sometimes at the risk of their freedom. It was the case of the “3+4 of Briançon”, it is now the case of Emilio and the people prosecuted in Italy for having set up places of solidarity. This event seeks to publicise and support this struggle, in the face of repression, so that life and freedom can be a possible horizon for all.
