About Jamal’s expulsion blocked at Malpensa airport. Four comrades arrested
On Wednesday 20 March we learned of the imminent deportation of Jamal, a Turin comrade detained in the CPR (detention center) of Gradisca d’Isonzo. As soon as the news was received, some comrades moved towards the Milan Malpensa airport where solidarity activists managed to access the runways and stand in front of the Royal Air Maroc plane bound for Casablanca, blocking it and delaying the flight’s departure. It was later discovered that Jamal had been taken to Bologna airport and from there deported to Morocco. However, there was one person on the plane stranded at Malpensa whose deportation was probably prevented by the blocking of the plane and the pilot’s subsequent refusal to carry out the deportation.
The companions were detained until late in the evening; one companion was later released on a charge of interruption of a public service, the others are in prison awaiting validation of their arrest and are charged with resisting a public official, interruption of a public service and endangering transport safety.
In the face of the systemic violence of the machine for managing and deporting people without European papers, these moments of courage and determination remind us that not everything is inevitable and that jamming the mechanism is possible. If the state’s objective is the normalisation of deportation practices, the isolation and silencing of protests and uprisings that inflame detention centres, on our part, we will not leave alone those who oppose this inside as well as outside.

Blocking deportations is possible, taking to the runways of airports even more so!
