SIT-IN SUNDAY 13 AUGUST AT 3 P.M. IN MONGINEVRO, CENTRE

Another dead person was found on Monday 7 August on the carriageway from Montgenèvre to Briançon. He is a ‘migrant’, a young boy from Guinea without a good ID in his hand.
His name was Moussa.
The umpteenth person to die in these mountains where more than 10 bodies have already been collected since 2018, killed by a racist border where driveways are crossed daily by cars, buses and trains transporting tourists, goods and military personnel while migrant people are forced to pass on foot through the mountain paths, escaping from the controls of the French police who try to block their journey even in the woods at more than 1800 metres above sea level. Chases, ambushes, violence and rejections are daily.
What killed once again was not the mountains, the snow or the cold. What killed was the armed arm of the state, which armed with jeeps, drones and night-vision goggles tries to protect the national interests of a neo-colonial and racist state, widening and narrowing the mesh of this internal European border that continues to separate, repress and kill.

LET’S GATHER IN LARGE NUMBERS ON SUNDAY FOR A SIT-IN IN MONGINEVRO, THE VILLAGE WHERE THE PAF (BORDER POLICE) IS BASED, TO COMMUNICATE WHAT IT IS HAPPENING IN THESE MOUNTAINS AND TO REITERATE THAT NO ONE SHOULD DIE ON THE BORDER!
